Organic Roasted Buckwheat (Kasha), probably originating from China. While many people think that buckwheat is a cereal grain, it is actually a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb and sorrel making it a suitable substitute for grains for people who are sensitive to wheat or other grains that contain protein glutens. Use its nutty-flavour in grain/ casserole dishes.
The hulled buckwheat is roasted in a rotating drum, cooled on sieves & filtered to remove remaining husk and dust. After cooling the product is packed & stored. Grain of 3-5mm, dark brown in colour, pyramid shaped.
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS: Add 1 part kasha to 3 parts water. Bring to the boil then simmer for approximately 15-20 minutes until the water is absorbed.
